John Apsley, Stuart Whitehead both mention Dennis joining Hayes with Dennis Dawes from Elmers End Cricket Club, back in the mid 1970's.
Dennis was a batsman and played mainly for our 2nd/3rd XI's and was an accumulator of runs and difficult to get out.
His son Richard also played many seasons for Hayes.
Phil Burnstead remembers a lovely guy who also gave back to the club after his playing days were over, Phil says: "A feature of Dennis for me was his Brylecreamed short back and sides and his love and knowledge of cricket and football. He once said to me “keep playing as long as you can as you are a long time retired”, so right."
I also remember Dennis as someone who was always around on a Saturday, encouraging the younger players and having an interest in all the sides.
His funeral is to be held at Beckenham Crematorium on December 7th at 13.15.
Flowers to Messrs Killicks.
