A blistering weekend saw Hayes 1st XI entertain Whitstable in a "must win" game.
Whitstable called wrong and skipper Simon Routh had no hesitation in batting.
Unfortunately Beau Couldrey (0) fell to the third ball, but Grant Sheen (47), Jamie Askew (53), Hayden Walsh (54) and young Scott Gallagher with 64 not out ensured the batting fired this week, with Hayes finishing on 274-6 in their 50 overs.
With Stuart Eddicott (4-1-18-1) and Connor Byrne (7-2-25-1) taking wickets in their first overs, the Whitstable batting struggled and the spin of Grant (10-2-35-2), Rhys Morgan (10-2-24-1) and Hayden Walsh (9-1-38-1) offered Whitstable no respite and despite a valiant 95 from their number 8, Whitstable succumbed to 200 all out and a much valued 18 points for the side.
The previously undefeated 2nd XI travelled to Old Colfeians and for once the bowling didn't demolish the opposition - 2 wickets for Jayson Thompson (7-1-40-2) bring the pick of the bowlers, but Old Colfs put on 247-9 in their 50 overs.
Despite a valiant innings from Finnan Bryan (46), supported by Josh Pratt (23) and Connor Daniels (21), the Hayes batting collapsed in the heat and 136 all out was the total.
A rare defeat and hopefully back to winning ways next week.
The 3rd XI hosted our friends from Petts Wood.
Batting first Delrick Adikari (81), Shahidul Chowdhury (41), Mo Rahman (31) and Hasan Babu (56*) ensured Hayes amassed 258-7 in their 40 overs.
Shadihul (8-0-39-2), Kevin Coates (7-0-32-2), Dammika Silva (10-2-22-3) ensured Petts Wood would struggle and they finally finished on 182-9 in their 40 overs.
Another win for Jewel and his team - 7 from 7!
The 4th XI travelled to Dartfordians and bowled first.
Jeremy Browne (9-0-35-3) and Shrijeet Desai (9-044-3) were the pick of the bowling as the home team finished on 157-7 in their 40 overs.
Hayes made short work of the replay - Adam Greenway (61*) and Shrijeet (74) saw Hayes cruise to a 9 wicket win.
Sunday saw the Development side Host Dartford and fortunately batted first on a hot sunny day. Liam Buttery (101) took the bowling to his liking and added another century to his tally this season. Josh Pratt (74) also enjoyed the sun and Hayes rattled up an impressive 261-6 in their 40 overs.
Jayson Thompson (8-1-32-3) seems to be on form and with Finlay Baker (8-3-20-3) bowling well, Dartford were soon in trouble and finished on 147 all out.
2 out 2 for the Development team.
The Legends hosted a strong Croydon side, YRG Eagles, who were side tracked by watching their beloved Pakistan on the TV!
Lewis Thisleton (6-0-45-2), Andrew Marriot (4-0-27-2), Sean Thisleton (4-0-32-2) were amongst the wickets as was young Izzy Steet (5-1-25-1) on her debut and in addition to taking her first wicket, fielded excellently.
YRG racked up 289-9 and spurred on by Pakistan winning the Champions Trophy, bowled tightly and despite good knocks from Shrijeet Desai (39), Pete Jones (31) , Cameron Low (40), Marcus Browne (19), Hayes were bowled out for 179.
A good weekend for the Club with the first team back on form and the 3's continuing a great start to the season!
