Rain Spoils Run Chase

Surrey Ovalites were the visitors on Sunday and elected to bat.

David Tappenden (6-1-22-4) was the only Hayes bowler to have any success as the Ovalites racked up 234-5 in their 35 overs.

Skipper Peter Jones rotated the bowling in seeking a breakthrough but to no avail.

Losing 2 early wickets, the total looked to be a long way away, however Hayes leading run Scorer, Liam Buttery (59*) and Michael Robertson (85*) battled through the rain to get Hayes close to the total but the rain finally brought a halt to the proceedings with Hayes on 178-2.

Two more weeks left of the season and let's hope for no more rain!
