Sunday saw the curtain drawn on the 2017 season and the pressure was on Liam Buttery to see if he could score the century that would see him finish on 1500 runs for the season.
The Waggoners were the visitors and skipper Pete Jones won the the toss and elected to bat.
Liam opened with Dammika Silva (0), but wickets fell early and Liam was looking for a partner to hold up one end - thankfully young Joe Lambourne (41) and Sean Thisleton (21) obliged as Liam once again proved he can handle the pressure and scored 111 in 115 balls.
Liam's 1555 runs have the archivists scrawling through the record books - Phil Burnstead scored 1435 in 1984 and we all remember Tristan Dixon who scored 1474 in 2013. 2008 saw Jamie Askew and Hugh Ingram score 1100, In 2014 and 2015 Tomas Gallagher scored over 1000 and Liam himself scored 1200 in 2014, but we are yet to find a 1500 + achievement!
The Hayes innings wrapped up on 199-8.
The Waggoners got off to a good start but the introduction of Scott Gallagher (6-1-24-4) saw he game turn in Hayes favour and with Sean (4-0-18-3) also on form, The Waggoners ended their reply on 178-9 and yet another victory for skipper Pete Jones.
12 wins and only 2 defeats for the Sunday Legends in 2017!
