Hayes start their season with a convincing win over last years winners Finchley Gunns
The weather was in full co-operation as the Home of Cricket hosted its first game of the 2013 season.
Hayes won the toss and elected to bowl First. Farrant and Jackson started very well and restricted the visitors from scoring. Farrant made the break-through in the 5th over with a great caught and bowled effort.
Finchley Gunns were finding the runs hard to come by and wasn't long before Farrant picked up her second victim. Enter Jasmine Titmuss, one of three debutants. She picked up her first wicket in her second over and then began to steamroll the opposition. She eventually finished with figures of 5/9 off 9 overs. Lottie Bryan also picked up 2 wickets as Finchley were all out for 60.
Hayes made a shaky start in their reply losing Grace Gibbs in the 2nd over. This would only bring captain Lydia Greenway to the crease, and along with Kathryn Leng, began to make things look easy. A flurry of Greenway boundaries meant Hayes chased down the total in 15.4 overs to give Hayes their first win of the season. Greenway finished with 30* and Leng 17* respectively.
