Hayes too Strong for Hursley Park

Hayes continue their unbeaten start to the season against newly promoted Hursley Park

On a cold and blustery day, Greenway called right at the toss and quickly inserted the home side on a green looking wicket. Hayes' opening bowlers started very well, and along with some tight fielding allowed Jenni Jackson and Grace Gibbs to both take early wickets. The home side reduced to 19/3 within the first 15 over.

Hursley then started to rebuild with captain Jemma Green (54) and Harriet Bachelor (26). Greenway threw the ball to young-gun Phoebe Franklin who immediately made the breakthrough in her first over removing the hard hitting Green. The resistance from the tail of Hursley Park was weak, and Jackson (4/10) came back on and Hursley Park were finally all out for 129 in the 48th over.

After tea, Hayes were looking to attack the bowling from ball one. However, Gibbs (4) fell victim to some steady bowling and was adjudged to be LBW. This brought Lydia Greenway to the crease. She showed her intentions straight away hitting a 6 into the meadow on the leg side.

Kathryn Leng (47*) and Greenway (65*) started to take the bowling to all parts and the target was eventually reached in the 22nd over.

Hayes have a week off now, and will travel to Brighton on the 12th May where they will look to continue their 100% record.

L. Greenway 65*
K. Leng 47*

J. Jackson 4/10
G. Franklin 2/5
