Hayes Hurricanes continue 100% start against title contender.
A strong allround batting performance from Hayes Hurricanes was the basis of their successful 76 run victory over Reading last Sunday and maintains their spot at the top of the ECB Premier Womens League.
Captain Kathryn Leng (42) elected to bat first and with fellow opener Kathryn Doherty (45) put on 84 for the first wicket to give Hayes a very solid start. Laura Marsh struck a fine 68 and with good support from Kara Toleman (17) and a breezy 29 from Emily Gerke Hayes completed their Innings on 259 for 9.
Reading made a reasonable early reply with England players Heather Knight (52) and Claire Taylor (43), but with the score on 124-1 Marsh dismissed Knight and Taylor quickly followed caught by keeper Catherine Sluter of the bowling of Joey Watts. Wickets then fell on a regular basis with Laura Marsh taking 4-33 and Emily Gerke mopping up the Reading tail with 3-9, as Reading were all out for 183. The Hurricanes continue their good start to the Season to make it three wins out of three to maintain their 100% record.
